Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, has stated that he will not participate in a New York probe of his family’s business dealings, Donald Trump refuses to answer questions in New York investigation
On Wednesday, Trump made his way to the office of the New York Attorney General to begin his investigation.
The Trump Organization has been accused by state officials of fake or misleading asset appraisals in order to secure tax benefits and loans.
According to the president, the investigation is a “witch hunt.”
After being photographed coming at the Manhattan office, Mr. Trump issued a statement criticising New York Attorney General Letitia James and the probe as a whole.
‘This long simmering drama has been years of labour and tens of millions of dollars in vain,” he remarked. For reasons of due process and in accordance with constitutional guarantees, I chose not to provide any information.
President Trump’s deposition comes just a few days after the FBI conducted an unusual search warrant at his Mar-a-Lago resort, as part of a separate investigation tied to his handling of classified data.
It was also sought to sue James in an effort to prevent her from questioning the former president and his children.
Depositions for all three parties were ordered by the New York Supreme Court in February. This month, Donald Trump Jr and Ivanka Trump were questioned by the FBI.
Since there was “copious evidence of possible financial misconduct,” the judge decided the attorney general had “a clear right” to examine the former president and two of his children who were involved in the firm under oath.
Judicial action has been described as “a win” by Ms James who said that “justice has prevailed.”
First launched in 2019, the inquiry aims to prove that Mr. Trump and his company overstated the value of their assets when applying for loans. The alleged fraud occurred before Trump was elected president, according to the report.
