On 4 August 2022, 10 personnel works at the coal mine were trapped at
the flooded coal mine for over 24 hours – Northern Mexico.
Rescuers struggled to reach them since they got trapped.
The incident happened on Wednesday, as miner came across the
tunnel where water flooded the mine, as per the report.
On Wednesday, rescuers were successful in extracting five people from
the mine and trying to pump out the water from the mine to save the
remaining people – according to National Coordinator of Civil
Protection, Laura Velazquez, who is looking after the situation.
“We have not slept since, we are working day and night.” Said by
Velazquez on Thursday.
She more said, “We are trying to extract greater amount of water from
mines to rescue the miners as soon as possible.”
Early on Thursday 6 more rescuers join the rescue team, but there is
not no update as of now, General Augustin Radilla said.
“They say the water is rising… I want my husband to come out all right.”
said the wife of one trapped miner.
General Miguel Riquelme, on Thursday travelled to the location where
mine is located.
She said, “five extracting pump of 150 horsepower are currently
working and more submersible pumps are being installed to rescue to
On Thursday, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, said, “The
investigations into the mine, those responsible, the inspections and all
of that we leaving until after. Right now look to save the miners.”
